DEAR FIRE FIGHTER SUPPORTERS:

I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank you for supporting your local firefighters.  Your contribution will benefit firefighters throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County. You show your support not only for the firefighters, but for your community as well.

The Fayetteville Professional Fire Fighters Association represents many firefighters who are employed by the City of Fayetteville and we endeavor to take a pro-active approach to fire safety and community services throughout Fayetteville & Cumberland County.  We are a non-profit professional organization; therefore, these ticket vouchers are not tax deductible for Federal tax purposes as a charitable contribution, unless you donate your ticket vouchers to a charitable organization.  But please be assured the Fayetteville firefighters and the community they serve will benefit from your support.

It is important to note that we represent the Career Professional Firefighters in Fayetteville that have chosen to be members of the association, not any government agency or volunteer fire departments.

The firefighters of our nation are rated as having the number one most hazardous occupation in terms of death and injury.  Working with the citizens of Fayetteville & Cumberland County, perhaps we can change these statistics.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (910) 483-9922.

Once again, we thank you for your support.  It is friends like you that make a difference.

Sincerely,
Frank Kocsis
President, Fayetteville Professional Fire Fighters Association

A Fireman's Prayer

Whenever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person
From the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife...
Approximately 80% of all children killed or injured in household fires sadly die in fires they start themselves!
Each year fire kills more U.S. citizens than all other natural emergencies combined, including floods, tornados, earthquakes and hurricanes!
It is estimated that over 39 percent of residential fires and 52 percent of residential fatalities occur in homes with no smoke alarms!
Seven percent of fatal home smoking fire
victims whose smoking materials started
the fire were using medical oxygen.
Over 90 percent of U.S. homes have at least one smoke alarm. However, these alarms are not always properly maintained and as a result might not work in an emergency. There has been a disturbing increase over the last ten years in the number of fires that occur in homes with non-functioning alarms.
